Feed the Dog

Pretoddlers love taking things in and out of boxes and other small places.  They also still really like to see things drop.  So, I came up with this fun activity for J that encompasses both of these.

I took an empty soda can box.  Like this Coca-Cola Box..I don’t have a pic of the one I used.

I wrapped it in brown paper leaving cut outs for the handle and the can dispenser part of the box.

I love the big roll of brown paper that you can find in the mailing section at the store (I get mine at Target).  I use it for wrapping presents, to cover the table during messy play, and art projects.  It’s somewhere around $7 a roll and will last a pretty long time.

I then used card stock and brown paper to make the dog’s face, leaving a hole for the mouth where the handle for the box is.

I then took clothes pins and wrapped them in white paper to make the bones.   That’s it! 

J loved feeding the dog bones and watching them fall to the bottom! 

I introduced this to J when he was 16 months old.  Sadly, it took quite a beating over the past couple of months, and was recycled last week.
