About Me

Hi there...I'm Amanda!

Way back when before I was a Mrs. or a Mom, I was in school to learn anything and everything about children.  My life revolved around kids and it has ever since.  I achieved my Bachelors in Child Development and worked in a daycare to earn money throughout college.  After I got my diploma I went right back to school to get my Masters in Counseling.  I wanted to help kids and I wanted to do it in the most lovingly, natural way possible.  So, I went to school to become a children's mental health therapist...more specifically...a Play Therapist.  I've basically spent the past 10 years playing with children in one capacity or another.

In 2005, I moved from Texas to the East Coast to marry a military man.  We have dealt with the normal things military life brings...being far from family, moving, and deployments.  But hey...that's just normal married life to me!

In May 2010 I had my little man...J.  We made the decision for me to stay at home with him. At first I was worried about this huge change in my life.  But, I have absolutely loved staying at home since day one and couldn't imagine my life any other way.

We welcomed Baby E in January 2013!  He has completed our family and made me a true "Boy Mom".

Overall, I'm a pretty simple girl who loves chocolate, popcorn (usually together), knitting, being organized, getting crafty, and doing anything outside.  I have done a few posts that are all About Me, so check those out if you want to know more.

I update this blog 3-4 times a week.  Most of the blog is filled with fun activities J and I do together.  I believe in the process of creating more than the product, so most of our activities are focused on great sensory experiences and some turn out pretty messy.  My favorite feature on the blog is my Get Organized  posts.  I love organizing and so I feature some of the best organizational ideas from the blogging world here.  I also really like to share my adventures in parenthood and any sort of parenting tips I may have.

I blog because I love anything and everything that has to do with play! All I want to do is share my passion of play and show just how amazing (and important) play is in a child's life.

I'd love to get to know you too!  You can connect with me via Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest. Feel free to email me at Amanda@dirtandboogers.com if you have any questions, or just want to say "hi".
