I’m hosting Thanksgiving dinner this year, and J is super excited about it. He can’t wait to have family here and to help cook. I thought that since he was so excited, that I’d have him help me decorate the table too.
I want a rustic, yet whimsical table this year, so I thought incorporating his artwork would be fun, and look really great too.
The invitation was simple enough, I just cut a long piece of brown paper to the length I’d like it. I put paint on paper plates and gave him some leaf shaped cookie cutters and round sponge pouncers.
I told him that we’d use this piece of paper on our table as decorations for Thanksgiving. He was so excited that he gets to help decorate!
He spent his time and worked very hard on his artwork. He said that he wanted to make it pretty for Thanksgiving.
I love painting on big sheet of paper like this. It’s more engaging for my little boy because he can use his whole body to create. It’s not only great for fine motor skills, but large motor ones too. Plus, it’s usually cleaner than painting on small sheets because the paint pretty much stays on the paper!
He worked so hard, and I think it turned out wonderful! I know that our family will really like his contribution, and it makes him feel pretty important too.
I think it looks great on our table. It gives it a little bit of that whimsy I was looking for. I can’t wait to see the look on his face when he sees his artwork on Thanksgiving day!
