Last week I shared 25 ways to reconnect with your kids. I wanted to show you how I’m working on getting out of my Mom funk and how I’m repairing my relationship with my kids.
Reconnecting is important, but it’s not the most important part of building healthy relationships with your kids.
The most important thing that must be done before you can really connect and be genuine with your kids is you have to take care of yourself.
We moms give and give and we don’t often take the time to give back to ourselves. This can lead to a very unhappy and resentful Mom.
An unhappy and resentful mom will struggle to have happy and healthy relationships with her kids.
So, here are 25 simple things you can do to take care of YOU!
Love your body
- Eat a piece of fruit instead of candy
- Drink water
- Go to bed early
- Go for a walk or stroll with your kids
- Take a shower
Say to Yourself
- “I am a good mom”
- “I deserve to be happy”
- “Life is good”
- “I can do hard things”
- “I am worthwhile
Nurture Your Soul
- Put on a favorite outfit
- Drink a warm drink
- Open the windows to let the sun shine in
- Put fresh flowers on your table
- Go outside for fresh air
Do things you love
- Read a book
- Take pictures
- Bake
- Write
- Sing
Connect
- Call a friend
- Chat online with an old friend
- Write an email telling someone you appreciate them
- Sit and talk to your spouse
- Hug someone
Just doing one or two of these a day and taking time to really focus on you can change your life. Make it a priority, Mama. Your family will thank you for it.
So tell me…what have you done to take care of yourself today?
